2019 in Review » Surprise Proposal Sessions » New Orleans
The beginning of the year is a perfect time to both reflect and plan for the year to come. I’m taking some time to look back at this year’s surprise proposal sessions. They all have their unique love stories, but they also all have one thing in common: She said yes!
Let’s start with Tyler and Regan. This sweet couple was visiting New Orleans on vacation when Tyler planned to propose near Jackson Square. This was my first experience photographing a surprise proposal, and it turns out, they’re a lot of fun! I get to act like paparazzi, and I get to bring my hubby along so I don’t look like paparazzi and spoil the surprise. After she said yes, we took some portraits around the St. Louis Cathedral.
Next is Brock and Ellie. This one was full of surprises! They were here in New Orleans on vacation when Brock planned to propose during dinner at Tableau. But included in the surprise were their parents, siblings, and friends, all of whom had traveled from out of state to be there! It was a very sweet moment. We were threatened by clouds that did turn into rain, but their small army of friends all held up umbrellas to keep us dry during our short session in Jackson Square!
Next is Tyler and Nicole. Tyler told her they were just having a portrait session in Audubon Park. But after a few minutes, Tyler got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, she said yes! They were a fun Louisiana couple, and I wish them all the best.
Next is Chris and Alyssa. Chris and I met in City Park prior to the shoot and picked out just the right spot for their special moment. He told Alyssa they were going out to dinner, and asked her to take a stroll through the park first. After she said yes, we continued with a short portrait session, before they went off to celebrate with their families!
Next is Dylan and Emma. These two live outside the city, so Dylan told Emma they were just going to New Orleans for a portrait session and a date night. She had no idea she would have a nice new ring on her finger! After we started their session in Audubon Park, Dylan proposed, and Emma could not have been more excited. It was a very sweet moment with lots of happy tears.
And last but certainly not least, we have Nick and Lucy. This sweet couple was visiting New Orleans when Nick proposed. He chose Audubon Park as their backdrop. Lucy was so lost in the moment (and enthralled by her beautiful ring!) that she didn’t notice I was taking pictures the whole time. We continued with a portrait session around the park, where they clearly had a lot of fun coming up with photo ideas.
Congratulations to all of the couples! I find surprise proposal sessions to be a good change of pace. They’re super exciting. It’s hard not to smile, as the couple approaches, knowing that one of these two people are about to get the surprise of their life, and both of them are moments away from being overjoyed! I hope to be a part of many more surprise proposals in New Orleans in 2020.
