About Dani

I’m native Oregonian; built a homestead in New Orleans, Louisiana 2016-2021; moved across the border to Mexico for traveling and house-sitting 2021-2022. In 2023, we moved across the sea to settle permanently on the Seto Sea. Here in rural Japan, my photography focus will be portrait photography for travelers along the beautiful Shimanami Kaido archipelago. We renovated an abandoned traditional Japanese house into Benton Guesthouse, and are starting a small honeybee farm and homestead, while revitalizing abandoned land.

Photography found me in 2007, while I was studying graphic design in college. In the years since then, I’ve received a small handful of photography awards, have shown my pieces in a number of art galleries, and found myself published in the Photographer’s Forum’s annual ‘Best of College Photography’ for two years.

Since starting my business in 2009, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of wonderful individuals, couples, and families, for weddings, engagements, maternity portraits, family portraits, high school senior portraits, event coverage, and professional headshots. I also work with small businesses to create images for their online and printed materials; my background in graphic design helps me to understand and anticipate their marketing needs. I love all of my clients and take pride knowing that I give them the attention they deserve. My business philosophy is now, and always has been, quality over quantity.

I’m comfortable shooting everything from natural light to complex studio setups, inside the studio or outside in nature. I also create my own personal work, and love to collaborate with models and designers to create surreal imagery.

I look forward to working with you soon!
