Sam + Kelly » Surprise Proposal » New Orleans City Park

Sam + Kelly were the last surprise proposal I had the honor of photographing, before we left New Orleans. I’m always happy for the opportunity to capture such a special moment, paparazzi style.

City Park makes for a stunning backdrop any day, but Louisiana really put on a show for us this day, giving us a dreamy golden sunset while he asked for her hand in marriage. This very sweet couple from out of state were so gentle and calm in each other’s company, and I wish them all the best!

When Sam contacted me, he was impressively prepared for his proposal. Usually, I would get requests for sessions at ‘the pretty bridge’ in City Park, but, even though there are numerous bridges in City Park, they always meant the same one. Sam not only knew the name of Langles Bridge, but he sent me a map coordinate to the exact location! It was really cute. On the day of his proposal, I showed up about twenty minutes early, to scout out the location, make sure there were no issues, and find a good hiding spot. I like to position myself somewhere out of the way, and act like a tourist. While I was waiting for them to appear, I was quietly ushering people off the bridge, and taking pictures of the trees in a totally not-at-all suspicious way. While I was leaning up against one of City Park’s beautiful live oak trees, they made their way to the top of picturesque Langles Bridge. She said yes!
